Displaced Texan 11,654 Posted August 14, 2015 Anyone have one? What's your experience with these triggers, and which of the included hammer springs did you use in it? I just installed one of their ACT triggers on one of my Colts. Used the hammer spring that was already fitted(purple), but may experiment a little with the tan spring. Ever have light primer strikes with military ball ammo with the lighter spring? HUGE difference between the factory mil-spec trigger and the ACT with a little dry fire practice I've done today. Can't wait to get it out to the range and wring it out. May have to buy one for each of my AR's.
Krdshrk 3,872 Posted August 14, 2015 I have an ALG ACT in my 14.5" Midlength AR. Combined with JP Enhanced Reliability springs (Red/Yellow) - it's got a great trigger pull. I bought an ALG AKT (For AKs) for my Saiga conversion - still in progress...
njJoniGuy 2,129 Posted August 14, 2015 I have ALG ACT triggers (with their as-installed springs) in all my non-match AR-15s. For $65 you'd have to win the lottery to do better. ALG are the initials of Bill Geissele's wife, and these triggers are manufactured (by others) to Geissele specs. The $65 trigger is hand polished versus the $45 version is as received by the factory. $20 well spent!
MidwestPX 172 Posted August 14, 2015 Best bang for your buck trigger upgrade, IMO. I prefer the ACT to the QMS due to the crisper break.
Displaced Texan 11,654 Posted August 14, 2015 I'm pretty impressed, just with the dry fire practice I've done. My only concern is light primer strikes with the lighter spring. I'll feel better about it once I put a few hundred rounds of military ball ammo downrange. For roughly $60, it's a HELL of an upgrade. I need a bunch more of these for all my AR's. Lalo 13 Posted August 14, 2015 I had a thread on this a while ago with details but can't find it... Maybe it was deleted or something. Anyway, yes, it's an awesome trigger, best bang for your buck IMO. I'm waiting for the nickel plated AK trigger before I pick one up for the Saiga. DSD1026 48 Posted August 14, 2015 i also have the ACT with the included springs in my AR.. great trigger for $65.. very crisp break. wont be the lightest trigger pull (compared to $250 triggers), but within milspec weight, just about as good as your gonna get. I would buy another one to put in my 15-22, but i just havent bought one yet.
High Exposure 5,635 Posted August 15, 2015 I have 3 ALG ACT triggers. They are an excellent value. I also have 3 Geisselle SSA and an SD-E trigger. The ACT won't replace them, but at 1/3 the cost they can't be beat. I like these triggers so much that this is the LPK I buy to build any new lowers: http://midwestpx.com/product_info.php?cPath=55&products_id=659 Every new build will have an ALG ACT at a minimum. checko 180 Posted August 17, 2015 I have the ACT in my main AR. It is definitely an upgrade over the mil spec but after buying a SSA-E for my other AR I don't think I could go back.
Displaced Texan 11,654 Posted August 17, 2015 I like single stage triggers, was never a fan of a 2 stage trigger in a utility rifle. The ACT trigger seems to fit the bill for my preferences. May have to buy a bunch of these. Now to get to the range....
