Shawnmoore81 623 Posted September 13, 2015 Anyone on here have one? http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2014/01/19/gun-review-intrepid-tactical-solutions-ras-12-shotgun/ RAS-12 AR12 Upper Kit 18.5 Barrel 5 rd Pmag - The RAS-12 is the only 12 gauge system available for the AR10 platform. Only uses RAS-12 ammo. The system provides the rapid ability to change from a rifle to a shotgun and makes the AR10 a true modern sporting shotgun. It features 2-pin rapid deployment monolithic carrier group proprietary RAS-12 bolt and provides AR10 system familiarity.
MidwestPX 172 Posted September 13, 2015 Why? The MKA1919 works with an AR15 frame (cheaper than the large frame) and doesn't need proprietary ammo.
Shawnmoore81 623 Posted September 13, 2015 Cheap toy
MidwestPX 172 Posted September 13, 2015 Maybe I'm crazy but I hate the idea of proprietary anything but particularly ammo. A firearm is useless without ammunition and a firearm that costs over $2/rd isn't going to get shot a whole lot. Anyone who bought a 338LM without looking at ammo prices will attest to this. Shawnmoore81 623 Posted September 13, 2015 It's $1 a round. I'll spend a few hundred on ammo and call it a day. I won't shoot it much. May take it hunting though. I texted the gw and asked if I block the mag can I hunt with it and he said yes. So game on
Displaced Texan 11,647 Posted September 13, 2015 $1950 for the upper, plus $3/round for proprietary ammo? Not a chance in hell. $1950 will buy a nice Benelli M4 and a bunch of ammo.
Shawnmoore81 623 Posted September 13, 2015 As I was saying Cheap toy
MidwestPX 172 Posted September 14, 2015 As I was saying Cheap toy You and I have very different definitions of cheap I'm rolling 155gr .308 AMAX for $350/K and balking at that even though it's a little over $1/rd to buy it.
carl_g 568 Posted September 14, 2015 How is that NJ legal?
Shawnmoore81 623 Posted September 14, 2015 By the time the gun is finished nj laws won't matter and Delaware doesn't care
Krdshrk 3,871 Posted September 14, 2015 How is that NJ legal? It's not - unless you want to run a NY post-SAFE style abomination AR.
Shawnmoore81 623 Posted September 14, 2015 The .308 I'm building will take me a while to get together. This is a toss on upper for that build.
Shawnmoore81 623 Posted September 14, 2015 I posted that psa lower saying it can be a cheap build

n4p226r 105 Posted September 20, 2015 So you are building an "assault weapon" and posting about it publicly?
Displaced Texan 11,647 Posted September 20, 2015 Wow. $282 for an upper that was supposed to retail for $1950? Hmmmmm.
Shawnmoore81 623 Posted September 20, 2015 So you are building an "assault weapon" and posting about it publicly? Upper is legal to have on its own. I don't own a .308 ar yet. By the time I do I won't live in nj. Just like I have all new stocks still in the boxes just waiting to go on my other ar's. Perfectly legal apart. But at that price it seems like a steal. I haven't seen one in person yet though and I was hoping someone on here did. I'm guessing the price drop is because of the specialized ammo. Probably not selling. So when I do get one together I'll just order a bunch of ammo for it.
302w 83 Posted September 21, 2015 I'm not trying to hate on you, but you're SOL if they go bankrupt or discontinue support. Like Trounds.

ChrisJM981 924 Posted September 21, 2015 If you're moving out of state, why not save the money and buy a Saiga 12?
carl_g 568 Posted September 21, 2015 If you're moving out of state, why not save the money and buy a Saiga 12? IMO if you didn't buy a saiga 12 when they were cheap you missed the boat and they are now way overpriced for what they are. If you want to go the conversion route, CSS has kits now available for the FURY & FURY II. Those guns are less than 400.00 For 799 I would go with the Vepr all day long over a saiga. it is already converted out of the box and they are supposed to be solid. The MKA1919 that was mentioned has some cool aftermarket support and they are reviewed as being a reliable semi auto shotgun.
