JayWilling 33 Posted September 16, 2015 I've had a Rossi 1892 Lever Carbine in .357 for about 3 years now and have enjoyed shooting it. About 1-1/2 years ago I heard about Stevesgunz.com. Steve Young is a CASS enthusiast and an "expert" at slicking up lever rifles. He has a video of how to do an action job on the Rossi 92. I got the video and had no time to do the project until about a month ago. I watched the whole video, took some notes, and set about disassembling the gun. I then took the extractor, the loading gate, and a couple of leaf springs to my grinding wheel and fearlessly cut away some meat., Then I took the bolt and cartridge guides out and used a very light dremel wheel and smoothed out some things on there. Then I shortened a couple of springs. Cleaned everything, put it all back together, and it shoots a LOT better. The action is easier and smooth, lighter trigger pull, feeds flawlessly, and it's even MORE fun to shoot. I think the video is $40 (it's been awhile) but well worth the information and it was a fun project to boot.
T Bill 649 Posted September 16, 2015 Great it turned out well. I used a this kit and put in in mine. Still having a few issues with it but no time to do it. I must have about five projects started and none finished. I really need to close them out. \
Melgamatic 66 Posted September 17, 2015 I have that DVD and a few of his parts sitting on my desk for months now. I need to do that!
JayWilling 33 Posted September 17, 2015 The video I used had you trim the hammer spring. For the trigger spring I took it out and reduced it's width on the grinding wheel by about half. Lightened the trigger up nicely.
