Anyone use it? How well does it work?

I'm an avid Hoppes user. If it cleans as well as Hoppes, I'll whip up a batch. My question is, does it wipe dry? I feel like it would leave an oily residue. I like that Hoppes leaves the surface residue free.

Ed's Red has been a staple at Camp Perry for years. I used to use it on the Garand but over time I just got lazy and picked up what I needed now and then. There are several different formulas I tried, all seemed to work rather well.  No complaints or problems. Here's a link to a list of homemade cleaners and lubricants. With all the hype today I really do not know if one is any better than the other, commercial or homemade.  Some say this or that is the best, others not so much. A lot depends I guess on how often you use the firearm, what you shoot, and how often you clean it. or store it.

every now and then when a Eds Red topic comes up i think about mixing some up as I have all the fixins laying around , but then i look into my trusty Weapons Support Cabinets and see way too much stuff already .....as a side note I recently cleaned out my in-laws house/garage and probly took several gallons worth of the ingredients to the Brgn Cnty sponsered hazmat  drop-off they just had near here. can only keep so much crap hanging around.
