Zeke 5,504 Posted November 22, 2015 http://m.thenewdaily.com.au/news/2015/11/10/australias-secret-gun-problem-exposed/ It appears gun crime in Australia is up 85% on avg from 2005-6 No Brainer, the black market is also booming. Further proof, criminals don't obey laws

DanMarvel 9 Posted November 22, 2015 When will people politicians/Law-makers learn, gun laws do not affect criminals. They will obtain it regardless of the law.
High Exposure 5,634 Posted November 22, 2015 It's not really about gun control. It's about controlling people. If politicians appear to be doing something about a problem that the uninformed, emotionally charged, hoi polloi have, they will assure their re-election. It's a self licking ice cream cone. Politicians don't care about crime, or guns, or any of that. They care about their jobs.

jackandjill 683 Posted November 22, 2015 Associate Professor Philip Alpers, one of Australia’s leading firearms researchers and a director of the Centre for Armed Violence Reduction at the University of Sydney, said the national ban on semi-automatic weapons following the Port Arthur massacre had spawned criminal demand for handguns. --------- I didnt see that coming... jm1827 284 Posted November 22, 2015 Not surprising at all, and the interpretation by Australia's liberal gun control advocates is just as expected. At the end of the article they seem to think the gun ban is working but now they need tighter ammo controls...WTF! Absolutely unbelievable!

T Bill 649 Posted November 22, 2015 What is next after ammo controls? Probably go after all those wheel guns, semi-auto's evil cousin. Even though heavily regulated already. Perpetual fail!

jackandjill 683 Posted December 6, 2015 Why can't the other side get this, they can't be that stupid collectively.... They are not stupid. They suffer from SSS. Special Snowflake Syndrome (ok, I just made that up). Pay attention to how they never advocate their body guards, their protection detail to NOT to carry, carry blackpowder, 1 capacity magazines, sporting rifles or carry "smart guns". They think everyone else cannot be trusted with rights or responsibilities. They want to take society to days of kings and queen ruling the "masses", witch hunting and control freak society where people serve and beg to live a life instead of making own life. They profess "stigma free" but make even smallest of mental issue a disqualifying factor for firearm ownership. They appear to care about the poor, but poor is exactly who they deny rights to, with excessing "taxation", forms, waiting, "good repute", procedures, court processes etc. They are so special that they have to be right, even when facts say otherwise. I get they always exempt themselves out, that should be illegal. But you're gonna need a good honest person to pen that law. And more good honest people to vote yes on it. If they could rule like a King from the 14th Century... (think Henry VIII)... they would do it in a heart beat.

mipafox 438 Posted December 7, 2015 I know some people here would like to point out Aussies as an example of gun control gone wrong. But you will find their media lies and distorts statistics even more than ours does. Their crime level is not really going up more than slightly, and that is only due to Moslem boat people. This is not an example of gun control gone wrong, it is an example of gun banners never satisfied and always wanting more. Same as the media and the government here in the US. The purpose of the story is to support a ban on lever actions, reduce gun ownership, move towards have gun storage centralized in police run facilities, and outlawing keeping guns in your annually inspected gun safe in your home. Even though crimes in AU are NOT committed with stolen legal firearms. They are imported black market firearms with a very tiny smattering of firearms bought up by criminals before the 1996 ban.
