First Hunt A Success!

Recommended Posts

Made it out to my new brother in-law's family's property in NY after plans falling through last year.

Took a 5 point buck on opening day towards the end of day (Saturday).

I mostly gutted it with a little help from my brother in-law.

Dropped off at Hunterdon Butcher yesterday evening.  Looking forward to picking up lots of good eats!

Fantastic time and hope to make it an annual tradition.

Pics to follow little later today.

Jimmy is a great butcher and a long time friend of mine. He will treat you right. Congratulations on your first harvest!

Thank you. I read nothing but very positive reviews.

Has he been to some of the Shotgun Shotouts in Clinton? Some of the guys there looked familiar. I thought I recognized them from the clay shoots but wasn't certain,

No he has not come to any of the shoots but I should get him to come out in the spring. Tell jimmy that Adam B the reptile guy sent you. I'll be bringing him a doe to slice up for me to make jerky with soon

Holy fast turn around Batman! Dropped of deer on Sunday. Picked up clean, nicely packaged bundles of meat on Tuesday!

Was told would have gotten more steaks but we kind of bothced it when we quartered the deer. Told to bring deer in whole next time. Live and learn.

Thank you Hunterdon Deer Butcher!

15# ground meat, 10 back strap cuts, 8 steaks, 2# Italian sweet sausage, 2# hot dogs, 1# cheddar jalepeno dogs, 2# hot sticks (jerky sticks), a tenderloing, a tenderloin and 1# venison "pork" roll (becuase Jersey)

Dug the venison Italian sausage out from the freezer.  OMG delicious!  I'm going to have to get several pounds of this if I'm lucky enough to get a deer this year.  Actually, I'm hoping to get more than one so I can have LOTS of the specialty meats.

Also made up some a large batch of delicious venison chili two weeks ago.  Froze a lot of it to enjoy when ever the whim strikes me for some chili.
