Tru glo. Mepro Ameriglo

Why can't I figure this out. Do fiber optics glow at night or only channel light better? Tru glo is fiber optic right ? But Mepro and Ameriglo actually "glow". Is that right ?

Fober optic only capture and enhance ambient light. They will not glow in complete darkness.

 

Tritium sights produce their own light and will glow even in total darkness.

 

There are combo sights that do both.

 

I believe that Ameriglo and Meprolight make both kinds of sights. Choose what you want carefully.

 

I am partial to Ameriglo Spartan sights on my Glocks.

 

That being said, tritium nights sights are only valuable for about 20 - 30 minutes twice a day (during dawn and twilight) under normal conditions. If it's too dark you need a light to acquire and ID a threat before engaging anyway, which makes the tritium sights unnecessary. If it's bright enough to acquire and ID your threat without the use of a white light, you shouldn't be using the tritium dots, as your sight picture should be defined by the crisp outline of the front sight blade centered on your target.
