Revolver Smith Recommendation - Trigger and Possible Moon Clip

Recommended Posts

Standardizing to federal primers, looking to get a trigger job on a S&W 686, most important thing for me is double action that has no stacking. Light is also good but stacking is my biggest concern.

MAY be interested in cutting for moon clips but would only want to do it if I can keep the extractor as well, that way can load regular way as well when just at the range.

Thoughts? I'm in south jersey.

Thanks PB. Is $600 for a an action job a reasonable price?

You're *probably* not looking for a 600 dollar trigger job.

That particular package TK advertises is his complete competition style package. It'll become a lightened action, Double action only, and require federal primers seated to a specific depth.

Best to call Tom at TK directly and discuss what it is you're looking for. In all likelihood all you need is a good polishing job and new springs.

TK also is the man when it comes to cutting cylinders when it comes to moonclip conversions.

$600 is for their Ultimate Action job (w/ a hammer kit and firing pin kit)

Other options:

TK Custom Master Action Job

$350 with Return of your finished Revolver.

S&W Revolvers

Action Tuned with detail fit & stone the Critical Lock Work contact areas
8
.0 +/- Lbs.
Action Tuned for D/A & S/A
Install Wolfe Power Rib Competition Mainspring & Rebound Spring Kit
Chamfer Cylinder Charge Holes

Our Master Action Job is not appropriate for defensive use and
must be used with
fully seated Federal pistol primers.

TK Custom Basic / CCW Action Job

$200 with Return of your finished Revolver.

S&W Revolvers

Detail fit & stone the contact areas
10 +/- Lbs
Action Tuned

$350 and $200 doesn't sound too bad at all.

I'll probably end up installing a Miculek or Wolf spring kit and call it a day

Be warned, those seeking to "tune" your revolver. Shooting a tuned revolver is akin to owning a Ferrari - they're great fun when they run, but expensive to fix and maintain.

Even just tuning with springs may require you to restrict yourself to Federal primers or ammo.

Adios,

Pizza Bob
