Hornady L&L AP case feeder

Recommended Posts

I bet that Hornady box is flimsy too -- When I got my LNL I bought it from Midsouth I believe -- They taped it but that was all

The LNL in the hornady box, taped up with a shipping label -- That thin piece of crap box

UPS destroyed it and actually broke the aluminum casting

Hornady took care of it but it was totally avoidable with a proper box

Well I set it up tonight and it was simple. I have to wait for my small pistol plate to come in but all tests by dropping cases from where they come out of the hopper have proven successful.. This is going to rock! Now I want the bullet feeder too LOL!

I got it from amazon but it was not eliglible for Prime.. I think it is being drop shipped from Optics Planet. I did not feel like waiting and I had a bunch of Amazon Gift cards that I got from work so I basically got a free case feeder and  plates :)

Hey Carl how are you making out with yours, find any tips or tricks?

I haven't done any 9mm yet I'm still working on .223, got just under 2000 loaded up and have about 1500 left to go. The only trick I figured out with .223 is to leave the bolt for the V block about a half turn loose, if it's tight it jams up the brass.

I have only used it for 9mm and it worked really good. I am going to try 45 ACP next. Then I'll give 223 a go. I wonder why you had to leave the v-block a little loose.. Are you sure that you are using the correct size?

EDIT: for 223 what adjustment do you make on the door of the feeder???

I'm not really sure why it jams up if the V block is tight. I tried 2 different sizes and they both did the same thing.  Probably need to adjust the height of the rod but it worked flawlessly for .45 so I didn't want to move it.

For .223 you just have to open the metal door up a bit, mine is open 1.080".

How much is your door open for 9mm? I forgot to measure it from .45 before i changed it.

When I get all the measurements figured out I'm going to print a label up and stick it on the hopper. I was planning on just scribing lines on the door but figured I'll forget witch one is witch.

For 9mm I kept it open all the way. That is what the instructions said..seemed to work OK.

O yeah I forgot about the instructions, haven't even cracked them open yet. Thanks man.

I had some trouble with the pivot block, it was getting a little tight when the ram activated it and not moving freely. I put some slide glide (grease) on it when I first put it together but after 3500 rounds it stated acting up. To fix it I took a wide flat file, cleaned the crappie casting up and made it all perfectly flat. Then I polished with chrome polish and a buffing wheel both pieces where the two pieces rub against each other and the ramp where the ram rod rides. Gave it a mirror finish put it back together and it worked like it had ball bearings in it, super smooth. I popped it back off and put regular axle grease on it, now its really nice. I made sure not to get any grease where the brass lands so none will get in the primer hole or on any of the brass.

I had to take a grinding wheel to mine as well to smooth it out. From the rod activating, it actually stripped the bolt holding it up so there's play now.  So i have to hold my hand on top of the pivot block to force it to drop the next cartridge.

I think I need to put a mirror finish on mine...

Haven't gotten around to it yet. Their service seems to have taken a downturn as well. I called 2 weeks ago to have them send me the "intermediate" drop tube so I could 40sw cases. I'm still waiting for that package...

I have polished quite a bit of the metal parts with Flitz. Big improvement with things gliding into place. I had to adjust the timing pawl on one side as well.  All Hornadys need a little tweaking to make them run smooth.  Then when you change calibers, a little adjustment is normal.  Once set all you want to do is keep runnung it in that caliber until your out of supplies.  My LNL is set for 45ACP most of the time for 2 types of loadings,  I run 9MM on the old Projector still.

    • In 50 years of living in NJ I've never experienced any attempt to inspect the interior of the home, and only one definite inspection of the exterior for an announced reassessment of all properties and that was a drive by. About 9 years of that was living in an apartment, but still, uncommon. Every place I lived had either a finished attic, basement, or both. But they were also included in the habitable square footage on the taxes when we got there.
