Cutting down barrel

Recommended Posts

If you're handy, can measure and use a square and a file it's cake.

Score it with a tubng cutter. have at it with a hacksaw. Take the square and file and finish it up.

Just remember not to cut it too short.  When you are done put a cleaning down the barrel against a closed breach and the barrel MUST be 18+ inches.

Good luck

I guess for a beater gun like this one, I should do it myself.

Good idea on the tube cutter = score mark.

Thanks.

You just want to make a mark and make sure you don't crimp the barrel.

Like go around the barrel with a magic marker and scratch that.

Cut it a little long and square it up with a fine mill file when done.

Take a round needle file and SLIGHTLY chamfer the inside of the muzzle.

Same on the outside with a flat needle file. Just to take the sharp edge off.

Cold blue or use a bluing pen.

Now just remember you cut off the choke.

Like others have noted, cutting it yourself is not hard. If you are still hesitant you could try this guy. I had him cut a Mossberg 28" down to 22" and rethread for chokes. Turned out very well. FWIW. YMMV.
