CJRPC Skeet/Trap Questions

Recommended Posts

Hello all:

Sometime lurker, first-time poster.

As a relatively new member of CJRPC with a primary interest in the shotgun disciplines, I have a bunch of newb-ish questions I'm hoping some folks here can help me out with. Pardon the newbishness.

1) I notice various scheduled activities on the calendar (Thursday Night Trap, 5-Stand on Sundays, etc.). Is it necessary to contact someone to sign up in advance for that stuff, or can one just show up and take part?

2) Targets: provided/available? or bring-your-own?

3) Shooting skeet/trap outside of scheduled events: Can I (once I get checked out on the machines, of course--which is taking forever) just show up and shoot, say, a round or two of skeet or trap anytime? Do people stick to themselves/their own pre-arranged squads, or can a single shooter generally show up and work his way in with some other guys?

4) Anybody shoot alone with, say, a clay delay or similar? If so, any wiring tips?

5) Any other key info a new guy should know regarding the use of the shotgun fields?

Sorry for the long list here--it seems like a great club, but not a lot of detail on the shotgun stuff was provided during the new member meeting...

Thanks a million for any intel,...

1) Just show up

2) Scheduled events, im pretty sure clays are provided.

3) You can shoot anytime, but being by yourself is hard. Guys may or may not let you join in. Remember they loaded their clays into the machine. Some might, some might not work with you on the clays. Some people like just having their own guys there. Like in the pits, most people like to shoot with their family or guests.

4) At the checkout i went to, the instructor went over how to do this, it all depends on what system you have. Ask questions at the checkout.

5) Attend the checkout, most everything is explained.

PS. Join the CJRPC section of this forum, might get more info.
