Candyman87 10 Posted January 12, 2016 Looking to see if anyone has experience with Spartan Group... these guys formerly were affiliated with RTSP and seem to be working with Cobra One Tactical in Great Meadows. I wanted to do some training with them when they were in Randolph and was disappointed when they moved. Did anyone do any training with them? How was the experience? Thanks! Howard 538 Posted January 12, 2016 I had the same experience with them as your when they were working in Randolph. I signed up to take their home defense course and had it cancelled on me over four times because they could not get enough people to take it. Finally just gave up on them. Candyman87 10 Posted January 12, 2016 Interesting. I may sign up through Cobra One since they're relatively local and if it doesn't happen I'm in the same spot I am now.
nuclearheli 40 Posted January 12, 2016 Myself and three of my buddies had an all day class with them at RTSP a while back. We had about an hour of class room then we were in the range for most of the day. Did a good deal of speed shooting with pistols. Also did a ton of tactical shooting and shooting on the move. Our instructor was an active duty Ranger. Also a big sport shooter. He started off taking video of us drawing from our holster and shooting at targets. Fast as we could. Then taught us how to draw aim and shoot his way. At the end of pistol training he video taped us again to show us how we changed. We got a great deal out of it mostly when it came to the proper grip and recoil control. We finished the day with our ARs shooting and moving. Well worth the money. Old Glock guy 1,127 Posted January 12, 2016 Thanks for the heads up on this group. I have been looking for places to train this year, and these guys are less than an hour from me. I will be watching their schedule closely. Hope to run into some of you there.
Taipan 0 Posted March 6, 2016 I stopped by Cobra One yesterday to check it out. Met and spoke with one of their instructors. Very impressed. I'm looking forward to taking classes with them and joining their range.
mikeyjones 88 Posted March 6, 2016 Does anyone know if they're going to have more pistol classes in April?
Candyman87 10 Posted March 7, 2016 I just finished Combat Pistol 1 today with Pat from Spartan Group. Great instruction, great facility. Can't say enough good about the experience. Learned some of my weak points and where I have room for improvement. Lots of moving and shooting. An all around great experience. Major props to Pat from Spartan Group and Keith from Cobra One Tactical!

Candyman87 10 Posted March 7, 2016 Just counted up what was left. I put 357 rounds downrange. Others who ran drills an extra couple of times were probably closer to 425.
mikeyjones 88 Posted March 9, 2016 I'm going to try to sign up for the March 19th class. Any pointers?
Candyman87 10 Posted March 9, 2016 Mikeyjones, keep an eye on the site. There may be some scheduling changes as the instructor may be out of country. As far as the class goes, make sure you have the required equipment. Class requires 3 magazines, I ran 5 mags. One failed due to mud and I still had enough to get by. Also bring extra ammo, we ran a couple extra drills at the end since we had a bit of time. And remember the KISS principle (Keep it simple stupid). People we had running tacticool rigs had more problems than those running a simple holster on a nylon belt. Keep it consistent and you'll find that things work out for you. Bring layers. We started off freezing and ended up rather warm. Bring food or cash. There's a deli across the street. Oh and have fun!

I registered last week and it's been radio silence.
Candyman87 10 Posted March 16, 2016 My first communication was the day before.
weekend_junkie 129 Posted March 16, 2016 Sounds like a fun experience. Any recommendations for what kind of prerequisite courses would help with this class? I've never learned to draw and wouldn't want to get into a class that's over my head.
mikeyjones 88 Posted March 18, 2016 So my class was scheduled for tomorrow. Never heard a peep. I just called the host range and they told me that spartan group has cancelled all classes through June. Would be nice if someone let me know. Not using them again. That aside, any matches going on tomorrow? Sent from my ONE A2005 using Tapatalk
Candyman87 10 Posted March 18, 2016 Interesting. I mentioned the instructor is out of the country, I'm surprised the website wasn't updated before hand. Sorry you had a negative experience. Once the class actually takes place the instruction is top notch.

I was signed up for Combat Rifle 2 this Sunday, 4/3, but when I inquired about the status of the class, I received that same information, that the instructor has been deployed, forcing a cancellation of all Spartan Group classes. Love how they communicate so efficiently. Best part was when I filed dispute w/ PayPal, they emailed me immediately asking why. Definitely doesn't smell like a reputable operation... Candyman87 10 Posted March 29, 2016 Love how they communicate so efficiently. Best part was when I filed dispute w/ PayPal, they emailed me immediately asking why. Definitely doesn't smell like a reputable operation... Definitely is a reputable operation from someone who has done business with them. The instructor is active duty and those commitments supersede teaching commitments. Yes, there was a miscommunication, but I assure you Spartan Group has no intention of ripping anyone off. Agree to disagree. Miscommunication happens once. It's a pattern if it happens multiple times. Sent from my ONE A2005 using Tapatalk
Old Glock guy 1,127 Posted March 29, 2016 Just to follow up, after learning that the class had been cancelled, I contacted Spartan Group and promptly received a full refund. So while communication may be less than stellar, I believe that Spartan Group and Cobra One Tactical are honest and reputable.
tjs3023 19 Posted May 23, 2016 I took a week long Executive Protection course with them quite awhile ago. Great group both in terms of people and as instructors.
Old Glock guy 1,127 Posted May 23, 2016 Looks like they don't have anything scheduled at C1T until the fall.
