S&W 627 Pro vs other L frame Smiths

Anyone have a 627 Pro (8-shot)?

 

How does the size compare to a 686?  I'm not looking to shoot competitively, so mainly just as a range toy/HD.  So caught up in the slight variations and relatively small price differences it's hard to make a decision

 

686 vs 686+ vs 686+ Pro vs 686 SSR vs 627 Pro

 

 

Maybe just go with the basic 686 and call it a day?  Or are the other features of the + and Pro series worth the extra hundred bucks?

It's larger, not 500 magnum x frame large, but larger.

 

Best to hit up your local gun store and feel both.

 

Remeber also, there are ooddels of grips on the market that can make a difference in how a gun feels

If you are ever in or near Bayonne i have a 686+, 627, and a trr8. Plus a bunch of other revolvers if you want to try them. Plus Caso's is real close to me and they usually have a bunch of Smith's

I may catch crap for this but Silver Bullet in Rockaway always has a nice rotating supply of Revolvers. When I picked up my 325TR from him, he had close to 25 or more revolvers on display mostly Smiths but a few Rugers too. Definitely a great little shop. Don't care what anyone says.

I have a 627 and friggin love it! as soon as i held it i knew it was right for me. 686 frame was a little cramped for me, but i have big hands. good luck and cant go wrong either way!

It looks Identical to the 627 we have in stock... i think it also is similar to the 686 ssr which sold but still here while he waits for permits
