carbine options that use pistol calibers?

Recommended Posts

So I have a Beretta Storm carbine in 9mm.  Looking to add a .45 or similar.

Beretta pulled that model from their lineup for reasons nobody seems to know.

Are there any other options out there that don't cost over $1000?

I love the Storm for the compact and lightweight design, and I can use mags from my FS92 pistol, which keeps things simpler.  Interested to find a larger caliber than the 9mm and add to it from there.

Any suggestions welcome.

.40 too?  or .45? only?

Hi Point has the 4095 and 4595 carbines.

Kel Tec Sub 2000 is available in .40.

Just Right Carbine is available in 9mm, .40S&W, .357 SIG, and .45 - but it's built more like an AR... takes glock mags though.

I'm not married to 45, so any input is appreciated.  Just looking to supplement the 9mm collection without having to go through all the paperwork rigamoral for another pistol license.

Beretta Cx4 are still obtainable in .40 and .45...

Plenty of 9mm AR options.

Taurus has the CT G2 .40 but mags are impossible to find (Same as the 9mm).

Probably out of your price range:

Auto Ordinance Thompson semi auto .45

FN PS90 5.7x28

Kriss Vector .45

If you can point me in the direction of a Cx4 in 45, I'm all ears (with credit card in hand)

That Kriss is pretty nice, but yeah, $1500++ is not where I want to be right now (baby need shoes and all that)

Same here... I love my 9mm CX4. Have the parts to run 92 or PX4 magazines, since I have both pistols.

In regards to BerettaUSA stocking them, Italy pulled them for the short term to fill other CX4 orders abroad (I'm sure the MX4, as well; automatic CX4). They said it should be back in the market sometime this year, but I learned to not take Beretta's timetable too seriously. Took them YEARS to get certain products (plural... happened to at least five off the top of my head) out that they said within the year.

I had an itch for a .45 rifle, and being I had a few AR lowers, I got into a Macon Armory upper...

For the upper and magazine block, it was just under $1,000. Uses HK USC magazines, as they are single stack and fit in an AR magazine well, but Macon Armory is going to be producing its own .45 magazines in the near future (already was told 15 rounders are in the mix). That rifle pictured weighs a whopping 5.6 pounds... and I might change out the stock to lower it a little more.

Rudy is the owner, so either send him an email or give him a call, and he will answer any questions. Very good company, and puts out well made uppers/parts.

So I looked at the Cx4 Storm in .45 and ended up with a Taurus CT40.  A bit cheaper, nice kit.  I'll see how it shoots after snowmageddon.   Reviews are not bad.  Snob friends scoff at Taurus, but it seems on par with the Beretta.  It just looks different.

Mags are impossible to find though.
