Sig Sauer AR (Sig M400) Reviews/opinions

Recommended Posts

Hey all. Went to check some firearms out with a buddy of mine during a small break i had and he ended up purchasing a Sig M400. Just curious as to whether Sig AR's are any good? I didn't get to hold it as i didn't have my FID yet, but should be getting it Monday/Tuesday if all goes well (Just waiting on a signature). Just wondering if i'd be better off with a S&W MP? The Sig seemed quite nice. While i'd much rather the Barrett's that were on the rack, i simply don't have that kind of money to spend. I decided to raise my spending limit to around 1500$. I Want to avoid building one for now due to inexperience, so please don't tell me i should just build one; i realize i'd be better off, but i am simply not comfortable doing so as of yet, until i get comfortable with one.
Thanks!

m400 enchanced are really nice and well under your price range, Steven over at Monmouth Arms has a couple in stock and you won't need to produce a FID to hold one.  I don't know what kinda bullshit gun store policy that is.  Pretty sure he still has an M&P sport 2 as well.

Not sure myself, i was fairly disappointed though i did hear that quite a few insist on seeing an FID to hold it. My friend offered his FID and asked if he could allow me to hold it (IE He vouch for me) and they refused to let me hold anything whatsoever. Unfortunate for them, as i am a cash buyer looking to spend 3,000$+ in the next week, haha. They were asking like 750$ for the S&W MP 15-22 which IIRC is a 450-500$ Rifle, and an SP2022 which my friend paid 460+tax for, they wanted 560+tax for so its not like they are cheap or anything. I'll probably just order what i want elsewhere/go to other stores. Not like theres a shortage of gun stores, which was actually quite surprising to me.

I've commented on the myth that you need to see an FID in other posts.  I spoke to the State Police and it is not a law.  I guess they do it see if you are a legit buyer at this point.

I've mentioned this several times and the practice has gone on for decades. Old days, they held that or a dl till you handed the weapon back. Sort of if you bolt with the gun, they got your info. Today its nothing more than a store policy. Liabilities are higher now more than ever. To produce it is no big deal and people that belly ache need to get over themselves. Nobody wants tire kickers. Tire kickers come in all shapes and forms and the store can do whatever they want.

If you don't want to deal with it, that is your prerogative. But don't cut off your nose to spite your face. Sometimes its not worth it.

well the nice thing about BCM is you can get a complete lower without stock for under $400 and then just go to their website and you can get any 14.5" mid length with pinned comp and BCG and charging handle.  add a set of iron sights to your budget and you can get just about any configuration, NJ legal, with just a stock pinned (or magpie fixed carbine stock with no pin)
