Looks like I'm back into ar's

Recommended Posts

Well I've had this lower sitting around for a loooonngg time since I sold my upper, it's actually the first "gun" I've ever bought, so I figured it needed to be brought back to life.

Lower is a stag that I built myself, it's all milspec as far as the lpk and trigger go so nothing fancy. I just got the new stock today it is a magpul carbine fixed stock and I plan on getting the prs buttpad. Grip is magpul so is the trigger guard.

Upper is a mid length stag 14.5 with levang comp wearing a yhm free float. It's got the afg on it but I'm ditching that for their vfg. The light is a streamlight tlr2 g but that is also only temporary until I get a new mount for my foursevens light. The optic is a Burris ff3 in their protected ar f3 mount and I'm waiting on some magpul buis pro's. It needs a new charging handle I'm thinking a bcm gf4.

Well that's it for now. It needs a new sling(ms1) and maybe I'll do a trigger later. It's just going to be an all purpose rifle I'm not looking to do anything super fancy with it yet.

P.s. thanks for the upper Mike

Social guns get Troy BUIS or GG&G MAD rear BUIS. Fun/training guns get MBUS. I wasnt a fan of the Magpul Pro BUIS - it is completely subjective, but I didn't like the sight picture. Meh...

You can get a set of Troy BUIS (front and back) right now on sale at DSG for $140:

(You have to log into their site for the sale price).

With the durability and long battery life of my Aimpoint T1 and PROs I haven't used BUIS in so long, I am seriously considering not putting them on fun/training guns at all from this point forward.

i like that the pros are low to the receiver when flipped down

didn't realize how much those were though. PSA has the set for around $200 and theres one on amazon for $152

I've seen the pros for $120. Got to shop around

I'm looking at picking up an aimpoint. I know the mbus bros are the best in terms of sight picture but the size and ease of adjustment swayed me towards them

I'm in the same boat. Was gunna get a vortex sparc but I think wait and see if i get a good deal on a aimpoint patrol. I have a fixed front sight so only need a rear sight. Not sure on the magpul or troy still.

If you see any good deals on an aimpoint please let me know I'll do the same.

What's the general opinion on the Levang comp? I'm trying to pick a brake/comp for my build and I'm having some trouble deciding what to go with.

I haven't shot it yet but people really like it's ability to send the blast down range instead of side to ice

Muzzle devices are very subjective, and a lot depends on what you want the device to be able to do.

You get 4 shooters in a room and you will get 6 opinions on which muzzle device works best.

The levange type direct the blast forward but do little to mitigate muzzle rise and some say they can increase their perceived recoil.

So I got the magpul light mount and have it at 11 of clock... I love it. Also got the mbus pro sights in... also love them. I have a ms4 sling waiting on a the rear mount... dumb me figured the fixed stock would have included the quick detach but it doesnt. 3c269e525c9ca0eaea9e35bb95cf0968.jpg0457626a7d5ed8246fbe1539b8011d49.jpgbba819b2a916b2c7886ae42993e47fa5.jpg4549ec272ce642bd50fbb14efcef3ee6.jpg

I hope you got a good deal on that front sight... lol

looks good only thing I am not so sure about is that light mount looks like it rides way far away from the gun..

Haa you wouldn't believe the deal I got on the rear ;) the mount looks really far out and it probably is but it feels great to use. I trust magpul polymer specially after I pulled this out of my weasel (dogs) mouth 48097739924cccfe7ff8e63a72e876df.jpg291b832cb746bd3b181113314e3dad18.jpg
