Free Hazmat on CCI Primers from MidUSA

Recommended Posts

I have a coupon that expires Feb 29.  Free Hazmat on CCI Primers with a minimum order of $150 total.

Anyone interested on a group buy?  I could cover the $150 myself, so we are good to go on the minimum.

Eric

Sounds good, guys.

For anyone else interested, maybe we'll make the deadline date of Monday, Feb 15, noon.  Please post to this thread, if you are interested and we can place the order Monday afternoon.

Thanks,

Eric

Eric is your coupon good for primers only?

any chance it can be used for powder too??

Unfortunately, my coupon is only good for *CCI* primers.

As mentioned, the minimum is $150 (I can cover that myself).  There is no maximum.  The prices are listed on the Midwayusa.com website.

We would share the shipping costs equally and there are no Hazmat fees or sales tax.

Given the fact that primers are more expensive at Midway vs Powder Valley (32.29 vs 26.50=5,79/1000) and Powder  Valley's hazmat is $28.50, the break even point for small pistol primers is about 5000 primers. If your required to buy $150 in primers for the free Hazmat this represents 4600 primers so if you buy between 4600 and 5000 primers then Midway is the way to go, Over 5k primers Powder Valley is more cost effective.

All calculations were done with the unit price for small pistol primers; others sizes may vary

Shipping and handling not included  (was 13.50 for 8000 primers to NJ)

I did the math using 1000 CCI #500 small pistol primers as an example:

Powder Valley- $26.50+ $28.50 Hazmat+ $12 shipping (aprox)= $67.00

MidwayUsa- $32.29+ $0 Hazmat+ $12 shipping (aprox)= $ $44.29

If 2 ppl go in on the order, then:

PV= $14.25 Hazmat+ $6 shipping= $20.25 add'l per

MU= $0 Hazmat+ $6 shipping each= $6 add'l per

If 3 ppl go in, then:

PV= $9.50 Hazmat+ $4 shipping= $13.50 add'l per

MU= $0 Hazmat+ $4 shipping= $4 add'l per

Are CCI primers harder than Federal?

From what I read, they are comparable in hardness.  Not nearly as hard as Berdan primers, for example.

Federal's might be a lil more "hotter" than CCI's, but hotter isnt always "better".

But who orders 1k primers at a time? I typically get 5k at least.

Also, the order min here is 150 to start so the returns are diminishing.

More than 5k, pv is cheaper.

It really depends. Usually the federal are softer.

Man, no good deed goes unpunished, around here.

Apparently, the Midway deal makes more sense for someone that only feels like picking up an extra 1-2 thousand primers.  In my case, PV is perpetually out of what I need, so I will pick up a little bit here and there until PV is back in stock.

At the end of the day, this is still cheaper unless you are stocking up for the next revolution.

If you haven't jumped on Eric's group order (thanks, Eric, for setting it up!) I see a promo code on my current MidwayUSA flier--looks like anyone can use it.   Enter 16hazmat01 to waive the hazmat fee on any order of $150 or more of CCI primers.

Midway seems to have just about all primers CCI makes in stock, and the large pistol primers are even on sale...$26.71/1000, $126.67/5000.  Shipping isn't bad; I don't see better all-in pricing elsewhere.

Use PV if you like.  When I plug the orders into both sites, Midway is a buck cheaper for 5K small pistol primers.   And $10 cheaper for 5K small plus 5K large pistol.

2 things, I think Eric canceled the buy due to lack of interest.

And I'm not sure how you come to those numbers since pv is significantly cheaper per brick than midway.

Midway is $126.67 for 5K CCI large pistol, Powder Valley is $135 for the same, plus $28.50 hazmat, which Midway isn't charging this month.   And, my comparison above included shipping from Midway, and did not include shipping from Powder Valley, since I didn't see a shipping calculator on their site.

I don't have a dog in this fight.  Order from PV if you prefer.

Pv is 5.29/1000 cheaper on the spp. But is 29c/1000 more expensive for lpp because midway is have some sort of clearance.

At those prices assuming all spp, more than 5k offsets the hazmat charge.

Also the fact that you can get powder much cheaper in the same order is the main reason to go with pv.

I don't have a dog in this fight either, just pointing out facts and trying to save people money.

ETA: you choose one very specific example of CCI primers. Pv has other brands which changes the dynamics even further.
