PSA - Chamber flags

Contributing to the current list of PSA's. Check your chambers when using chamber flags. Did some work for a customer a while back and noticed this when inspecting the rifle:

Thats a AK ain't it? I had a WASR and caught it in mine too. Seems they break off in shipping because the other half was laying in the box.

I've got a few plastic ones I've snapped already or are close to snapping - looking to get metal/rubber ones.

 

Hornady has one for ARs that you can pull to rack the bolt...

The problem I have is putting a plastic flag in a hot chamber.  I generally just use it to prevent the bolt from closing.

I used it to prevent the bolt from closing one time and went around with one of the directors of CR.

Right or wrong he was an AH!

I don't want plastic in my hot chamber.

I had that same argument with a CR RSO once. I left the range, and didn't renew for a decade afterwards.

No it wasn't melted. Just a fairly brittle plastic. And as such, in my view, only a matter of time before it snapped off in a chamber.
