New Jersey: “Smart Gun” Legislation Scheduled to be Heard in the Senate on Thursday

Recommended Posts

As previously reported, Senate Bill 816 was heard in the Senate Law and Public Safety Committee and passed on a party line vote.  Now, this misguided legislation is scheduled to be heard by the full Senate on Thursday, February 11.

Like last year’s “smart gun” legislation that was vetoed by Governor Chris Christie, Senate Bill 816, sponsored by state Senator Loretta Weinberg (D-37), repeals the 2002 smart gun law; however, it forces all gun dealers in the state to provide this unproven technology for sale.  This backdoor attempt is nothing more than forced market acceptance of a product that has proven unreliable despite decades of research and development.

Presumably, the old smart gun law could then simply be reinstated, and within three years, traditional handgun sales would be forbidden by law.  Please contact your Senator and respectfully ask him or her to oppose this legislation.  Contact information for your Senator can be located here.

And then we go out of state to purchase them.,Then again you could buy them in New Brunswick,Camden, Detroit, Chicago,. Almost any large town sells guns,.also  no paperwork required from street corner sales.

Loretta is another DemocRAT that needs to retire already and stay out of politics.

Let the technology evolve by itself and stores will carry the product, when it has been proven reliable and cannot be jammed

Are NJ politicians body guards carrying these wonderful smart guns?

Guns are evil, their body guards/protection details don't carry guns, that would be hypocritical, and we all know that these pillars of all that is right would never do anything to be hypocritical. <*click*> sarcasm off...
