With the price of materials going up, how much does one actually save by reloading? How much ammo does one have to do before one gets a return on their investment?

A lot depends on what type of ammo you reload. if you reload match grade ammo for rifles, you save a lot. It costs me about 1/3 of the price compared to Black Hills or Hornady match ammo. I don't reload pistol yet, but i think it varies on caliber ex. .45 to 9mm. I have my Dillon for about 7 months and it has paid for itself already, as I tend to shoot almost every weekend.

I agree with Jimmy. Depends on what you reload and how much you shoot. I can go through 600 rounds a week....and probably more in the spring when I start hitting the matches more. A friend told me he figured out he reloads about 50 rounds of 9mm for $5 or $6 I think. Plus you have the option to load down your ammo if you want for a match. Santa is getting me a Dillion so it's already paid for itself and I haven't ordered it yet.

When my buddy and I got our 1st 650, it paid for itself within 3 months. It is a sizable investment, but well worth it if you shoot several hundred rounds a week. But these days the price of components are double what they were when we started reloading. So it hurts when a case of MG heads go for around $280-$305 per and Winchester primers are worth their weight in gold.

Thinking about getting into reloading. Just ordered a few books and spent the last couple days doing my online research. How are your Dillion rigs doing?

I have had my dillon since 1987, best machine on the market. plus i just ordered a part few months back and they replaced it under warranty.

Great, and their warranty and customer service is second to none if you do have any problems. One thing to always have on hand, not that they are needed often, but get the spare parts kit, thing do wear over time and it's nice to be able to get back up and running is a few minutes, and the kits are just too damn cheap not to have on hand.

Anyone done this lately? Tried calling Vinny twice and no answer

Vinny is in the process of moving to Florida.

I don't believe this offer is still available, unless Vinny would have it drop shipped to you from Dillon.

Shoot him an email.

Just spoke with him. He is indeed moving. So there's about 2 weeks left to get this.

No drop shipping, cash out the door.

Reloading is a way to have ammunition in todays world. Include a bullet mold also.

There is a "but"  , try to even find the components. powder, primers, bullets, brass seem to be non existent for the common rounds. At over a dollar or more per round of the factory ammo, that gets expensive.
