  1. Hi Newt, I also own a BM Contour 5.5. I have used it with any and all types of ammo and it has fed them well. The only ammo that has given me problems is the Aguila subsonics. It doesn't have enough juice to cycle it consistently. Maybe yours needs a little more 'break-in'. Most of my FTE's are due to my limp-wristing the pistol. If you do have a firm grip, it's either the ammo or the magazine. Also make sure the screws are tight. Put blue or green loctite on them. arnoldr
  2. Thanks Ryan for the reply. When you say 'old' Marlin 60, I take that to mean based on manufacture date. I remember reading that Marlin 60 used to have an 18 rd capacity. So a lever gun like the Henry or Marlin 39A is not covered by the 15-rd limit then ? arnoldr
  3. Don't want to hijack your thread but I have a follow question. Is the 15-rd limit on the magazines only ? How about tube feds that take diff calibers (like 22lr/22s/22l) ? If I understood it correctly, it is basically for semi-automatic firearms (pistol/rifles) whether mag or tube fed. Am I off-base here ? arnold r.
  4. Thanks guys, Mikka1, We're probably in the same boat, the only difference is that I already have my FID issued years ago, TBill1, That would explain the delay for sure. I do remember reading in those other threads that there is a person (lady) that we could call to inquire. I couldn't find those other threads last night so I decided to ask.
  5. Hi Guys, How long does it usually take to get the mental health information from Essex County ? I'm told they still don't have mine, started the process 8/9/13. arnoldr
  6. Midway ships to NJ. Just received my order early this week)

If you're looking to buy NEW, choices are limited and probably the STI Spartan is your best bet. If you don't mind used, try looking for a decent STI Trojan. Shoots very well, good ergonomics, thin grip profile due to single stack, manageable recoil. I'm also looking for a shooter Hi-Power, but the prices on the Brownings are crazy. Maybe I'll settle for a good clone. arnold r.
  9. Thank you all for the information. It's good to know the pros and cons before hand so we can make an informed decision. For me personally, the only issue(s) I'm concerned with is the fix 25-yd only shooting, and the previously unknown 5 round limit. Not sure what the time restrictions are for members. It's still prudent to go check it out. arnoldr
  10. Do you mean all targets will be 25 yards away ? arnoldr
  11. I'm also considering joining this range although I live about 5 minutes from Bullethole. I inquired about the application process, but the earliest mtg is Sept 20. Is there a way to check out the range prior to applying ? arnoldr
  12. Thanks Jon, That's what I was thinking, a more thorough background has been done prior to the issuance of the FID and/or P2P. I'm curious then as to why a NICS is done when you go buy a firearm from a dealer and/or transfer thru a FFL. arnold r.
  13. Check with the stores in whatever State you're planning on going/visiting. I went thru the same thing in early July and VA stores won't sell me a 22 rifle. They were saying that they can only sell to 'adjoining states'. I'm not sure if this is only a VA thing or that's the new regulation. Save yourself some headache and call ahead... arnoldr
