  1. John, I believe so. Your intend (as a group) may not be malicious, etc and I do realized there is no harm in it....but I don't think the law sees this in the same light. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong here. Here's a quote from "NJ Law Summary" thread in the other section: "g. All weapons being transported under paragraph (2) of subsection b., subsection e., or paragraph (1) or (3) of subsection f. of this section shall be carried unloaded and contained in a closed and fastened case, gunbox, securely tied package, or locked in the trunk of the automobile in which it is being transported, and in the course of travel shall include only such deviations as are reasonably necessary under the circumstances." Now, in the eyes of the law - do you/anyone honestly believe that such a meet up/waiting at a coffee shop is legal? I don't. Imagine a cop pull up and just casually strike up a conversation, b/c there's 15 guys sitting around (half probably dressed in camo/etc)... nothing wrong with either side's actions. Imagine some one mentions guns/shooting/range/etc, then the cop asks any one of you a couple of questions. Then imagine he asks if anyone gathered here has any firearms, either on their persons or in their vehicles. Now-would you be really surprised if he called in for backup, and escalated that situation, learning that he just discovered 15 people with a "ton" of firepower in their cars/trucks, just sitting around a coffee shop? See where I'm going with this? Perhaps in another state/life/time we wouldn't have to even say or consider sh** like this at all; unfortunately times are what they are, and we live where we live - play by the rules or get burned...and as everyone knows firearms are not toys, and punishment for illegal use/transport/etc can really impact my/your life in a VERY profound way. I'm not trying to be a wise-a** here, nor do I want to sound like anyone's father/etc - just a friendly reminder. For what it's worth.... -99
  2. PPS: I was't going to say anything before-because you all should know better, but consider this: if all of you (members or not) were to meet anywhere outside of the range itself to the sole purpose of gathering together..to ride in together, and were stopped/questioned by [call it]overzealous LEO - you all may very well end up behind bars. I don't want o sound like a hard-a**/etc, but laws are laws, and you/we all choose to follow or break them at our choice. .,..and when group mentality takes over-who knows what may happen (yes, I'm talking to you whoever suggested you all meet up @ a coffee/whatever shop before you all drive into the range. Legally..........well, you all whoudl know the laws by now, so I don't need to repeat them. -99
  3. There's only one of me, and when you figure out who I am-you'll know. But for now (and as stated above) it doesn't matter. Consider my words "reflections of an outsider-looking from within." We're all in this together-no matte how close we are. Times are only getting tougher, and a little but of cooperation, understanding, respect and civility truly go a long way....be it at a gun club, traffic stop, post office, supermarket or playground. Do not be afraid to go back to the basics, and perhaps we all will find ourselves in between. -99 PS: Geez-do I sound MLK-ish today or what?!
  4. Warning: WALL OF TEXT Even though I'm a new member to OBPRC and I did not participate in this "meet up," I feel somewhat compelled to reply as well. Rules are rules, gentlemen, and none of us should exploit them. Will it hurt "the club" if an extra guest walk onto the property? Probably not, but you joined this place for a reason, and are bout by its rules and regulations. Sure. we can all "let one slip by" here and there, but I think the club, much like most of its members, operate on certain principles. By all means do your friend(s) a favor and take them out for a day of shooting. And when you do, remember what you have to go though to be at this place and remember that everyone should be treated equally. Therefore, no one should feel offended when you tell them that you may only bring them out twice, and then they CAN join the club themselves. I hate to make military/etc comparisons here, but if we all start braking the "chain of command" (rules, in this case) then the whole thing may very well come apart. I don't blame Dave/stakeholders for taking certain measures upon learning of "the gathering" which was to take place-judging from what challenges they have and do see. I think it would have been much more "professional" to state his/their indented action in this thread for everyone's viewing, and then I think no one should have had a single reason to question what the "club" is doing. Perhaps in the future such matters will be addressed in a better fashion. As for everyone else.... One of my best friends lives a block away from the club, and is a member. I could easily pass (and pretend to be) for his brother/etc and get in for free every single time. I don't. I signed up and pay(d) just like everyone else to be one of the guys. I call it integrity - you call it what you wish. From what I read in this thread (and i read every single reply) not everyone got it and some people may feel they have been treated unjustly...consider yourselves guests @ the statehouse. Whoever invited you IS responsible for you. And even though all the members who organized this meet and had the very best intentions, may have not realized certain "traps" they fell into. What I really want to say is this-no one should feel guilty about someone being left out, or unable to get in. No one should make anyone else feel guilty because they were not able to get in. This ain't "Obamacare" here guys (and I only use the term here very loosely, to highlight my premise, so please don't get hung up on a single word). No hand outs, no charity. All of us are trusted enough by our ************* (fill in the blanks as you wish) government to posses and use firearms in this ************ (again, fill them in, heheh) state. We are if anythign that one notch above many others; OBPRC (or any other club for that matter) raises that bareven higher; you-as an individual , should bring it even higher. Where does it get you? Some people may not agree with you; some may not like you. Some may think it should not be a big deal that you bring them in every weekend-after all, who's gonna know...............right? Maybe no one-we certainly don't want/need security gourds 24/7 to monitor who going in and out. It is my personal opinion that certain honor code is followed in many circles...and this one is no exception. So, in summary, members-don't feel bad if you didn't get someone in, just because you think you're doing the right thing - you ARE doing the right thing. Guests, take the opportunities given to you by the club and/or its members but please, do not hold a grudge against anyone (or any event) when you/they couldn't do as you please. As for the conduct of certain people @ the outdoor range........I hate to say it (because I truly am a new member as well), but even I have noticed a "couple of people" of seem to think they own the place. At this point am I not willing to identify myself just yet, but make no mistake, it should not matter. On two separate occasions I was a witness to certain comments towards myself or others, from some individuals (2, to be precise) who felt compelled top "school" other on what to do. This wasn't about safety, or questionable use of ranger and/or firearms, but general behavior. As some one (or more) have noticed, I also noted that condescending tone of voice and elitist "do what I say" attitude. I had my badge clearly displayed, and wasn't doing anything to warrant reprimand or even a comment - yet felt I was treated as a "no0b." I must repeat what someone else who wrote in this thread before-just b/c you don't know me doesn't mean you're an ounce better than me. Respect, and you will be respected-otherwise this whole thing doesn't make sense. So, Dave (in case you didn't notice I was writing this whole paragraph for you), I hope you not only watch out for what the rank and file members are up to, but also keep an eye on those who think they have the right to push others around, only because they have been there for who knows how long (or participate how much). I think everyone who holds that badge is equal, and deserves the same amount of respect. The next time someone tell me that "the dumpster is over there" and I SHOULD clean up when I'm done (pointing to a full barrel, which was full before I got there) I won't feel compelled to "keep it down" and comply, just because "someone" said to. As I stated above-respect and be respected-it goes both ways. It sounds that everyone who was @ the range that day had a good and safe time, and no one seems to dispute that. Great. My wall of text, even if too long and perhaps confusing art times, has only a single purpose: newcomers -please respect the VERY rules you one day may uphold; members - don't feel obligated to "bend" any rules you agreed to uphold, and to the "club" - respect and you shall be respected in return. -99 PS: You may commence you bashing/flamig/etc now............
  5. Who cleaned out all the Federal shells over @ the East Brunswick store?? Now I have to clean out their Rem supply again.
  6. Disclaimer: the 229 pictured above is for demo purpose only, and not necessarily one of my guns.
  7. Yup, they'll work. The 228 has a shorter grip however, so these 226 mags may stick out just a bit on the bottom. Similar to this (but I can't tell you exactly how much): EDIT: zoid-you may want to check this out as well: http://sigforum.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/350601935/m/9870064072
  8. Ahh, I guess I should have searched better. Sorry for the repost then. Mod/etc-feel free to lock and remove. -99
  9. PS: Anyone looking for 15RD MecGar (Italian) mags fo rthe Sig P226 - look here: http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php?/topic/29441-mecgaritaly-15rd-magazines-for-sig-saurer-p226/ -99
  10. It seems that MecGar mags for the Sig P226 in 15RD limit are either in very high demand, or/and somewhat impossible to find. I did a bit of digging, and found this! http://www.rptactical.com/product-detail/sig-p226-15-rd-9mm-magazine-sale/512 The place/link listed above has 146(just ordered 4 of 'em) confirmed MecGar mags that we want; I called them a few mins ago and verified, just to be 100% sure. Thye're based in Va, and I was told that these were extra mags which came with new firearms, which they/whoever couldn't deploy. Grab one(or more) while you can; $25 per mag doesn't seem to be a super deal, but it surely ain't expensive either-especially for these Italian mags! Enjoy. -99
  11. Same here Lorenzo, Even though it ticks me off a bit that I have to get replacement mags for what I consider a "premium" firearm, I'd rather eliminate a known defect, even if on my own dime. Will I continue to have FTEs/etc with MG mags? Perhaps...but at least then I won't have to second guess the mags as a source of failure. Aside from the sheer aggravation of FTEs at the range (even if good for practice), every time the gun fails to eject, load, etc it usually puts a piece of metal (case) under pressure somewhere inside the gun, in an awkward manner. Result? Possible scratches, bends, chips, etc. -99
  12. Ohh, and I guess I'll probably have to accept those low ball offers on those mags at some point. I know I won't be using them anymore, but if they work just fine for someone else-more power to 'em.
  13. Definitely not saying they're all crap, for all applications. Just showing you guys how they fit in my X5 and the huge difference (IMO) between those, and MGs. I did some more "testing" later on last night - using snap caps this time -and it looked like the CM mags held the rounds much lower, and "looser" than MGs. My CM mags are new, the MGs are used. It almost looks like the CMs are not fully inserted into the gun, even though they really are, and consequently, their ill fit attributes to feeding (followed by extraction/ejection) problems. -99
  14. It maybe a bit hard to see (sorry, wish I had a better camera) but focus on the round and ejector in these pics. See how much lower the round sits with a CM mag in place? See how it moves up, but also forward, with the CM mag pushed from the bottom? See how tight everything is with the MG mag? See how not much changes when the MG mag is pressed up? I'm very confident in saying that 99% of the reason why I have/had problems with FTEs thus far is the lousy engineering of the CM mags! I know it's been said before, and I'm here to reinforce it: CM mags are crap.......and that's all there is to it (IN MY CASE, of course). I am not excusing Sig from their internal extractor problem, and am not saying it doesn't/won't play a role in any issues, but it looks to be very clear that the sub-par engineering/fit of the Checkmate mags can really attribute to many problems people may have with feeding, extraction and ejection. For what it's worth... -99
  15. As many of you know and share some of the sentiments loosely wrote online (and real life) it would appear that many people claim the "new" Sig mags which come from CHECKMATE are far below in quality than Italian mags from MECGAR. I've read about it, thought about it..........and now you can ad me to the list of believers. This seems to be one of very few times where "Made in USA" doesn't mean quality, and (unfortunately) I will be getting rid of all my CheckMate (CM)mags (luckily, I only have 2). Disclaimer: this seems to be the same for MY X5, and I don't want everyon eto think I bash all CM mags, for all applications. Anyway, the real reason for this post is this: My X5 seems to hate Remmington 9mm ammo...or so it seemed. I only had 2 CM mags in the beginning, and the very first time on the range I had 3 FTEs (2 FTextract, 1 FTeject). Interestingly, the gun ran fine with some 'low qual' Russian ammo, yet Remmington was bugging out int he 1st two mags I tried. Gave all the Rems to a friend, and continued to have fun with his Russian stuff. Then I acquired 2 MecGar (MG) mags. Back to the range, same ammo combos were used. I wanted to give Rem ammo another chance - and I did. Over 400rds of Rem and only a single FTE. Why? Well, here's what I think the reason is (aside from the lousy and problematic internal extractor on the X5 itself): 1. MG on left, CM on right - top view. Here's what I wanted to show you: 2. CM mag inserted with a round in (hand off the mag) 3. CM mags inserted, and I'm pressing the mag from the bottom up with my finger 4. MG mag inserted (hand off the mag) 5. MG mag inserted, and I'm pressing the mag from the bottom up with my finger 6. CM mag view, from the top 7. MG mag view, from the top
