  1. Is that a new midway policy? The last time I ordered ammo from Midway (about the middle of last year), I had no issues. The only place I had issues was with Bass Pro shops. They do not ship to NJ. I can only asume some of these companies are taking a more conservative approach and updating there corporate policies, most likely as rfkhunter mentioned to cover their ass. I use to order a ton (not far from the truth in weight) of ammo from Cabelas, but unfortunalty it seems they've updated their free shipping promos to exclude ammo.

    help me decide

Go with a 1911. If you don't want to add .45 to your inventory you could always go for a 9mm 1911. In regards to pocket pistols, I have the Kahr PM40 and really like it. So go with the 9mm version - PM9.
  3. The Guild's service and knowledge is great... I understand that is not the question here and I'd have to agree that the prices are very high. I've had to calculate the cost benefit of ordering out of state and paying the transfer fee many times. I purchased an AR lower last year from the guild and the price was reasonable. However, my most recent handgun purchase was made from Bulleyes Tactical. Chris simply asked what was my price and met it. Picked it up last night. The Guild seems to be a lot more flexible on prices of used firearms. From my experience in general it seems like any dealer in NJ can charge a premium. My typical process for handguns is the cost analysis above and for long guns I simply go out of state.
