DD too tight

I'm putting together an ar for a customer. The upper came in today and the holes you put the takedown pins through is super tight. I had to use a mallet. It's a Daniel defense ddm4v7lw. The lower I got is a psa. Anyone have this issue?

Work the pins a few times in and out. Does it loosen then up at all?

ALL the PSA lowers I ever assembled were tight in the takedown pins... I used emery cloth and a bit of oil in the holes to get them fitted in nice.

Every DD upper I've tried sticking on a Mega lower has the same issue.  It'll loosen up over time as the rifle is shot and it's taken apart for cleaning.

A little sig oil and putting it through over and over is helping.

After putting it through over and over and over it loosened up.

 

All I have to say about this upper is its frigging nice. Now I want one.

Exact same problem here on a DD upper

Any lower I mate it to, is tight to the point I need to tap it out with a punch.

I considered opening it up a bit, but I figure too tights better than too loose

I have noticed all the higher quality parts DD, Seekins, have this same issue. My Seekins loosened up fairly well the fit is still tight and I am ok with that.

Not really hard. The I recently built a 5.5lb 14.5 plus pinned comp rifle, including sights but not optics and I didn't even have to use fancy parts, I just used a lighter barrel profile, with a TRX mid-length handguard. Sub 6lb 16" is rather easy.

Modular rails can save weight with out spending a butt load of money on the expensive lite quad rails. They end up weighing about the same once you add 3 rail sections though.. and you loose the ability to move stuff around easily.. i would have used one for my last build but they dont make the 10" length i was going for...

I think the quad rail that came on my sig 516 is a Troy. I wasn't sure how much weight I'd really save changing it

I prefer them tight.. If the holes and pins are the correct size its a good indication of a tight fitting upper/lower.. and who wants a sloppy one?
